Zonta's life journey began on November 21, 2001 in Neptune, NJ. After she had lived in the hospital for months as a result of epilepsy, Darnell and Evelyn Hannah became her foster adoptive parents in 2003. In 2005 the Hannah family then became her Forever home for the next 16 years.
Zonta was a beloved and popular student of The Children's Center of Neptune. From the ages of 3 to 19 she made leaps in her development despite her epilepsy and autism. With the collaborative effort of her school, family, and neurologist, Dr. Karia, she enjoyed an active life. She enjoyed her favorite trips to McDonalds, church on Sunday, pool time at home, summer vacations, and countless school trips with her classmates.
Zonta, affectionately called Shaleza, loved Dora The Explorer, Sesame Street, and YoGabba Gabba. She was known to enjoy being playfully chased by her sibling, Syrenah, around her home, playing with her library of books, strumming her guitar, and drawing on her musical Scribble boards. Mealtimes was Zonta’s favorite activity any time of the day. If she had a McDonald's french fries or a Burger King's meal she would stare suspiciously at it before digging in to eat. Shaleza was known for her affectionate breathtaking hugs where she would not let you go.
Shaleza was preceded in death by her loving father, Deacon Darnell Hannah Sr. She will forever be remembered and cherished by her beloved mother, Ewlyn Hannah, brothers, Darnell Jr., Jason, Robert, and Joseph Hannah, sisters, Tiffany, Nigua, Christine, Porsche, Passion, and Syrenah Hannah, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, church and school family.
