Valerie Jordan Obituary

Valerie D. Jordan, daughter of the late John I. and late Mary F. (DeLoach) Jordan, was born on September 3, 1961, in Neptune, New Jersey. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2021, at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was the only child, but had first cousins, Elizabeth, Louis, Zakkiyya and Torren Jordan, that were as her own brothers and sisters.

At an early age Valerie joined and was baptized in Bethel A.M.E. Church in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She was an active member for over 40 years and reverently served on the Steward and Trustees Boards, Lay Organization, as well as serving on numerous committees. Valerie loved the Lord and enjoyed her prayer corner by her dining room window. She also used this same corner to meditate, bible study and bird watch.

Valerie attended the Neptune public schools. She loved being a baton twirler and cheerleader for the school. She also had a talent for playing the piano and singing as well. Her matriculation at Kean College lasted for three and half years towards her Bachelor of Nursing (BSN). Afterwards, she obtained gainful employment as a CHHA, CNA, LPN, and finally as a RN at Riverview Medical Center and private duty care. Valerie had a nursing, mothering, and caring spirit. She worked as a hospice caregiver for not only for other clients, but also for her own mother, Mary.

Valerie also worked as a wonderful customer service sales representative for Metro Marketing Inc. since September 2001. She was one of the top sales representatives for the company. She enjoyed her employment, coworkers and even her management team.

Valerie had two, long amorous relationships that blessed her with two loving daughters, Felicia L. Jordan (her primary caregiver/companion) and Equasia M. Jordan-Edwards. No matter what she had been through in her life, she was always loving towards and supportive of her girls. This was always paramount in her heart.

Valerie was accepted into Adah Chapter #17 O.E.S. P.H.A., Mary Hightower Counsel and Pride of Asbury Temple #64 I.B.O.E. However, she fell ill before her induction. She was also a member of Lions Club District 16 L of Neptune, New Jersey. Prior to Valerie’s illness, she was an avid bowler like her mom and pianist like her father.  As an Avon Representative for over 20 years, she made numerous friends. You could always find Valerie, like her mother, at the Collingswood Auction on many weekends.

All who knew Valerie (or “Momma Val" as she was so affectionately called) knew a woman full of love, charity, respect for others and laughter. Even in her hour of need, she wouldn’t let another suffer nor sulk.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Equasia M. Jordan-Edwards (Joseph A.), and Felicia L.  Jordan, uncle, Kevin Britt, aunts, Francis, Bay and Naomi DeLoach, her close cousins (commonly referred to as her brothers and sisters), Elizabeth, Torren, Zakkiyya (Tina), Louis Jordan and Cassandra Gamble, cousins across the miles, Andrew, Erick, Monica and Thelma DeLoach, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and numerous friends.
