Effective 9 pm Saturday, March 21, 2020, New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, had mandated by executive order #107 that all New Jersey residents shall remain home or in their place of residence unless they are obtaining essential goods or services from businesses or government agencies. All gatherings of individuals, such as funeral services, parties, celebrations, or other social events, are cancelled.
These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice from the state governor. Due to the current restrictions, there will not be a funeral service for Jean E. Mallory.
The family is grateful, and would like to extend their sincere thanks, for all the support and condolences from friends and the community in their time of mourning.
Obituary
Jean E. (Peggy) Mallory, 84 of Neptune, NJ passed away on April 20, 2020. She was born on July 15, 1935 in Oxford, NC to William T. Mallory II and Ernestine Wortham Mallory. Jean was a resident of the King Manor Care & Rehabilitation Center in Neptune, NJ.
Jean was educated in the North Carolina public school system, graduating from Mary Potter High School in June 1954. Prior to retiring, she worked at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, in BAE Systems as an electronic assembly worker.
Jean was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park, NJ. She enjoyed life and laughter with close family and friends. Jean loved going on monthly bus trips to various casinos with her niece, Carolyn Velez, and partying back in the day at the Orchid Lounge in Asbury Park.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, William T. Mallory II and Ernestine Wortham Mallory; brothers, Leo Mallory, William T. Mallory III, and Lee Paige Mallory; and sister, Sylvia E. Coles.
She is survived by her brother, Paul N. (Carolyn) Mallory of Oxford, NC; sisters, Evelyn M. Downey of Oxford, NC, and Ella D. Bumpass of Asbury Park, NJ; close friends, Mary Jenkins, Willie B. Riley, and Annie Hall; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
