James “Jimmy” Jackson, 96, of Red Bank, NJ passed away quietly at home on May 8, 2021. He was born on July 24, 1924, in Red Bank, NJ to Walter Jackson Sr and Pearl Jackson.
His parents lived and raised their family in Red Bank, NJ. James received his education in the Red Bank public school systems. As a young man, James worked as a caddy in Rumson- Fair Haven, NJ, in several local bakeries, and he also worked at the armory with the retired infantry horses.
James was drafted into the Army Airforce in 1943 and honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Red Bank High School to finish his high school education and graduated. Soon after, James began working at Fort Monmouth Army base in Eatontown, NJ and retired after 42 years.
James married Rosalie Turner on July 9, 1960. And from their union they had three amazing children: James R. Jackson, Eulita Jackson-Moorer, and Romona Shelton. On July 9, 2020, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
James was a hard-working man, holding 2 or 3 jobs at a time, he was an excellent provider. Even after his retirement, James went back to work as a driver for Commerce Bank and later TD Bank. Dad loved to fish and hunt. And he was also a skillful marksman. He was a quiet and gentle soul who gave his all for his family.
James was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Pearl Jackson; wife, Rosalie Jackson; brothers, Walter “Babe” Jackson and Jackie Jackson; and his beloved step-son, Ron Joseph.
He is survived by his son, James R. Jackson, DE; daughters, Eulita Jackson-Moorer, NJ and Romona Shelton, DE; sister, Joyce Plummer, NJ; grandchildren, Alicia Jackson, NJ, Micaela and husband Jerry Latimer II, GA, Tyrone Shelton, DE, Gregory Shelton, PA, Shae Moorer, NJ, and Jemaal Shelton, DE; great-grandchildren, Aryanna, James, and Aiyanna Morris, NJ and Jerry Latimer III, GA; and host of relatives and friends.
