Irwin Peterson Obituary

Due to COVID-19 there will not be a funeral service

Irwin Peterson,89, of Bayville, NJ passed away on December 29, 2020.  He was born on June 6, 1931 in Newark, NJ to the late Samuel and Mildred Lavette Peterson.  Irwin was the eldest of five children.

He was raised and educated through the Newark, NJ system where he attended Charlton Street School and Central High School. At the age of 18, Irwin served his country by joining the United States Army. He gained life experience and extensive training while traveling abroad.

Through his travels Irwin had many hobbies he enjoyed; an avid reader was one of them; loving the expansive storylines in which noteworthy authors provided. He also delighted in scripture reading of the Bible. Not only did he enjoy literature, but he also had a love for sports and most of all baseball. In later years, Irwin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a man of dignity, honor, and respect.

Irwin loved the holiday season where he was able to spend quality time with his entire family; whether it was gathering with his brother and nephews to enjoy a couple innings of baseball, or just simply smiling over his family as they enjoyed board games. Always bringing joy and smiles to his family during the holidays, hearing his voice project distinctly “I’m ready for my   pie now!” would commence immediate family feast of treats that was prepared. He will be dearly missed and always remembered by his family, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mildred, brother Reginald Richardson, and his nephew Bruce. Irwin leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Annette Peterson-Wilson and Elaine Peterson, brothers, Richard Peterson and Charles Eugene Peterson, and many nephews and nieces.
